...I'm a PC...NOT a mac!

So for those of you not quite in the loop yet, I am leaving for the Peace Corps in the middle of March 09 for ALBANIA [...google map it if you're still confused]. I will be doing community and business development...basically meaning 1 of 100 things I could actually end up doing. But more than likely I'll be working with small businesses or NGOs or local goverment organizations to help develop trust in local government, create an awareness for human rights, or to develop the local economy via sustainable/grassroots development projects (cultural tourism, etc). Probably a large portion of this will also involve me teaching business English and/or basic computer skills.

My first 3 months there I'll be in language/cultural/safety training and then I will be assigned to a specific location for the next 2 years. The whole time I'm there I will be living with a host family. I'm SUPER excited to live with another family because it's such a different immersion experience.

So while I'm still preparing to leave...I am going to update this website with pertinent (yes, I just used that word!) information that people might find interesting about Albania. Links to articles, etc....and maybe links to some other issues that I am thinking about NOW! And hopefully once I'm there, I will be able to update this periodically!

I was just browsing to see if I could find any of the new volunteer's blogs and I came upon yours. First, welcome to PC Albania, we are excited about G12!

Second, I saw that you also lived in Prague . . . I went to school there in 2002 and for some reason there are a lot of us here (3 other current volunteers also lived in the Czech Republic at some time). Anyway, welcome to the Czech/Albanian PCV club!

See you in little over a month!
